drawsta Privacy Policy

drawsta is an iPad app for drawing, tracing, and creative practice. This policy explains what information the app handles and what happens to it. The short version: drawsta has no accounts, collects no personal information, shows no ads, and never sells data, because it has none to sell.

What drawsta stores and where

Your drawings.Everything you draw is stored on your iPad. If you are signed into iCloud, your drawings sync to your private iCloud database using Apple’s CloudKit so they are backed up and available across your devices. Your drawings live in your personal iCloud account. We cannot see, access, or retrieve them. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.

Recovery data. To protect your work against crashes, drawsta keeps a local recovery copy of your in-progress canvas on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere.

Photos. If you choose to import a photo from your photo library into a canvas, drawsta asks for permission through the standard iOS photo picker and accesses only the photos you select. Imported photos stay inside your drawings on your device and your iCloud account.

The inspiration feed

drawsta’s inspiration feed displays openly licensed and public domain images fetched from third-party services, including Are.na, Wikimedia Commons, Openverse, Apple Music (album artwork), the Internet Archive, museum open access collections, and the Library of Congress. When the feed loads, your device requests images directly from those services, which means those services receive your IP address and standard network request information, the same as when a web browser loads any page. drawsta sends them nothing else: no identifiers, no account information, no usage history.

Thumbnails from the feed are cached on your device so the feed loads quickly and works offline. You can clear this cache by deleting and reinstalling the app.

The drawsta backend

Editorial content — weekly challenges, how-to guides, tool packs, curated tracing images and onboarding text — is fetched from drawsta's own server (hosted on Supabase) when the app launches. Like the inspiration feed, that server receives your IP address and standard network request information, the same as when a web browser loads any page. drawsta sends it nothing else: no identifiers, no usage history, and nothing about your drawings.

These requests are read-only. drawsta does not write anything to that server, and your drawings never leave your device and your own iCloud account.

Content safety

drawsta filters feed content on your device, including an on-device machine learning model that screens images before display. This analysis happens entirely on your iPad. No images or analysis results are sent anywhere.

What drawsta does not do

drawsta does not collect analytics, does not track you, does not use advertising or advertising identifiers, does not fingerprint your device, does not require or offer accounts, and does not share or sell any information to anyone. There is no data to share or sell.

Children

drawsta collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
